l Quick Start Ideas
Ever dream of having your own greenhouse? What would you do in yours? We've put together some of the best ideas to help you get started in choosing the right accessories and features for your new Sunshine greenhouse.
Garden Starters

Start flowers and vegetables from seed.

By starting from seed weeks ahead of planting in the garden you can enjoy vegetables and flowers much earlier in the season. With inexpensive supplemental lighting and heating, you can start and grow year 'round by keeping the plants in the greenhouse rather than transplanting them to the garden. Starting from seed gives you the opportunity to try and enjoy varieties not available at the local market. The joy and satisfaction of seed starting is great for kids and adults. Seeds do well with an elevated germination temperature and plenty of water.

Ideal Environment Recommendation

Year Round Growing

Make salads year-round from your garden.

You can harvest year round by maintaining the right growing environment in a greenhouse. Imagine vine ripened tomatoes in winter. Leafy crops like lettuce are fast and easy any time of year. Maybe even a lemon plant with its sweet fragrance and colorful fruit, or cucumber or squash in a hanging basket, all without the concerns about chemical residue. The beauty of greenhouse gardening is that you can create the exact growing environment that you desire. Many of the best quality vegetables now available from the market are grown hydroponically, which you can also easily do in your greenhouse.

Ideal Environment Recommendation

- Light: 4-6 hours for leafy crops
8-12 hours for summer crops
- Temperature range: 45 - 75
- Humidity: 40-60%

- Shade Cloth
- Circulation Fan
- Vornado Heater
- Thermometer
- Drip Kit
- HID Lighting
Propagate From Cuttings

Propagate flowers from cuttings.

Do you have a favorite rose, fuchsia or geranium you really cherish? Would you enjoy creating an identical clone from a stem cutting? A greenhouse is a great environment for propagating from cuttings, proving both the indirect light and humidity necessary to promote rooting. Tender herbaceous plants, woody ornamentals, many shrubs and even some trees root well from cuttings. With a propagation mat in your greenhouse and a little rooting hormone, you'll likely have a greater than 80% success rate and be enjoying new plants in a few weeks. Propagation is a fun way to collect new varieties and save money.
